Welcome to all those students who are interested in exploring the world of Science or Technology. Once again we will be exploring ideas for investigation with an expectation of sharing these at a team Science Expo and finding winning exhibits to enter in the Manawatu Science Fair later in the year. On this page you will find some useful information and links to sites that will support your learning journey.
It is expected that all students in Te Roopu Arohanui will be involved in either a science or technology investigation this term. We will be completing most of the investigations here at school but there will be times where students will need to complete tasks and work related to the investigation at home.
There are very strict guidelines surrounding ethics and every student and their familes need to be aware of this. It is crucial that you and your child are clear about the guidelines and complete an ethics application early. This needs to be done before you start your investigation.

Your project should contain an element of original research. This means that projects should seek to obtain new information on a subject, or test a new idea or hypothesis, through experimental investigation, or develop a new technological idea or device.
Will be documented in a log book. All work should be described in a log book. This could be a school exercise book, or a scrap book; it must be logically ordered and contain a complete record of the project.
LOG BOOKS ARE ESSENTIAL AND NEED TO BE STARTED AS SOON AS YOU START THINKING ABOUT YOUR IDEA - ALL THOUGHTS, PLANNING AND NOTES SHOULD BE DOCUMENTED IN YOUR LOG BOOK. ALL DATA IS TO BE RECORDED TOO.
